Improving Global Agricultural Data Virtual Conference, March 22 - April 8

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) is hosting their second annual Improving Global Agricultural Data (IGAD) Conference virtually from March 22 to April 8. IGAD is a group which focuses on all topics related to global agriculture data. Panel sessions, group discussions, and presentations will provide an opportunity for deepening collaborations and facilitate sharing knowledge and developing innovations. There are individual registration links for each virtual session. Interested participants are encouraged to register for multiple days based on interests and needs.

Webinar on Mediterranean Fruit Crop Genetic Resources on April 27-28

Fruit Crops Resilience to Climate Change in the Mediterranean Basin-FREECLIMB has organized a webinar titled “Genome-based characterization of Mediterranean fruit crop genetic resources for better resilience to climate extremes”, open to all, on April 27 and 28 from 7:00 to 10:00 AM EST. This two-webinar is aimed at researchers, scientists, policy makers, technicians and farmers looking to share project results and insights into recent innovations.

Crops Conference in June, Abstracts Due March 18

The Crops Conference is being held June 13-16 at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville, Alabama. The conference is focused on the application of genomic technology to crop improvement. Conference topics include sustainable crop development, adapting to climate change, and plant engineering solutions for crop resiliency.

ASHS Abstracts Due in One Week

Abstracts for oral presentations and E-Posters for the American Society for Horticultural Science (ASHS) Conference are due March 15. All oral and poster presentations must be made in person. The ASHS conference will be held from July 30 to Aug 3 in Chicago, Illinois and will include technical sessions, oral and E-poster presentations, keynote speakers, and workshops. International Society for Biocuration UK Local Conference

The International Society for Biocuration (ISB) is holding the first UK local Biocuration Conference is taking place from May 5th to 6th 2022 at EMBL's European Bioinformatics Institute in Hinxton, Cambridge, UK. The two day event will include keynote presentations on data harmonisation and application of bioinformatic resources, as well as presentations on data curation, biocuration systems, ontologies and community curation. The keynote speakers are Kenneth Baillie (Roslin Institute, University of Edinburgh) and Dr Melanie Courtot (EMBL-EBI).

AG2PI Grants

AG2PI, funded by the USDA, is offering grant opportunities for the agricultural G2P community. The third round of funding will prioritize cross community groups, such as animals and plants or academics, government, and/or private industry. Budgets range from $50,000 - $100,000 depending on whether the project is emerging (new), enabling (a project that has initial studies but needs support to continue and expand), or establishing (sustaining well established projects). All proposals are due by March 8th, with an anticipated start date of June 1st and a duration of 6 months to a year.
