Job opening - Genomics Research Fellow with research experience in bioinformatics and molecular biology at the University of Southern Queensland - Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia

The School of Agriculture and Environmental Science’s crop molecular genetics team at the University of Southern Queensland is seeking a Genomics Research Fellow with research experience in bioinformatics and molecular biology to use comparative genomics and next-generation sequencing based strategies for disease/pest resistance gene mapping, cloning and functional validation. The work will focus on isolating resistance genes against rust and crown rot diseases and root lesion nematode pests in wheat using long read sequencing, comparative genomics and mutagenesis-based strategies. The selected candidate will support postgraduate research students undertaking similar projects within the team and collaborate with leading wheat research labs within Australia and overseas.

The position is full time for a period of three years with a salary range of $119,401 to $141,128 pa (includes salary range of $100,888 to $119,246 pa, employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary and annual leave loading). Applications will be accepted through Friday, August 11, 2023.

Job Requirements:
