Collaborator: Plant Ontology Consortium

Project Summary
Plant Ontology project is a major international bioinformatics effort focused on standardizing the nomenclature, definitions, synonyms and relations of various terms, keywords and vocabularies that describe plant structures and growth and developmental stages of plants.

This collaborative project involves team members and projects with expertise in plant functional and comparative genomics, ontology development, plant anatomy, genetics, systematics, and computational biology.

Principal Investigators

  • Pankaj Jaiswal (Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon)
  • Dennis Wm. Stevenson (New York Botanical Garden)
  • Maria A. Gandolfo (Cornell University)

Funding
The core activities of ontology development, mapping to common use vocabularies, outreach and training are funded by the National Science Foundation (Award #0822201). Funding and support is also acknowledged to our collaborators by various national and international agencies and foundations.
