The ICAR 2016 meeting was held at GyeongJu Hwabaek Convention Center, Korea on June 29- July 3, 2016. The meeting brought ~1000 Arabidopsis researchers from all over the world, especially Asia, Europe, and North America.

On Saturday July 2nd, Dr. Young Koung Lee presented a poster entitled "Translating research from Arabidopsis to crops".   Dr. Lee described how Arabidopsis research could be utilized for research in other crop species and including rice, maize and sorghum, and any of the 39 plant genome using the GRAMENE website.  She also presented the latest version in the Gramene’s comparative genomics and tools to aid Arabidopsis researchers from Arabidopsis as plant models and crop species. Poster presentation includes phylogenetic gene tree, synteny maps, multi-species view, data by gramene biomart, how to handle uploading and visualization of private data by customerr with BAM, BED, GFF file etc..

A Gramene brochure was prepared and distributed to Arabidopsis researchers during the poster session. The brochure covered how to use data and tools using the Gramene website, and ways to communicate with the Gramene team were offered to Arabidopsis researchers.

The program of the conference included cell cycle/division, evolutionary genomics, photobiology, development, abiotic stress, hormone-CK, auxin and peptide, plant-microbe interaction, plant lipids, system biology, genome editing, RNA biology, epigenetics, plant biotech, metabolism-energy/plant physiology and transporters.
