Gramene Vitis Release 4 is out with 11 New Grape Reference Genomes!

The Gramene Vitis Knowledgebase Team is pleased to announce its fourth data release with the following highlights:

  • Comparative Genomics:

    • Genomes: Genome browsers and BLAST databases for 29 grape reference genomes including 11 new grape reference genomes (2 vinifera Malbec varieties, one wild sylvestris strain, and 8 non-vinifera varieties), and 8 non-grape species including tomato, a fleshy fruit like grape, for the first time.

    • Gene Annotation: Curated gene function with literature references for 37 grapevine genes.

    • Gene Trees: 33,275 protein-coding gene family trees.

  • Genetic Variation:

    • Over 300K SNPs identified by re-sequencing grape cultivars and wild Vitis species with unique standard identifiers known as RS numbers (rsIDs), new to the release.

  • Gene Expression and Pathways:

    • Baseline gene expression and orthology-based pathway projections available for the reference genome Vitis vinifera PN40024 v4 via the Search functionality.
