The 19th International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics (ISRFG 2022) was held in Phuket, THAILAND on 4-7 NOVEMBER 2022. The ISRFG 2022 covered the most recent developments in rice functional genomics research. This conference brought together over 70 leading rice scientists and researchers, 9 workshops, 85 posters and over 140 abstracts.

The Agricultural Genome to Phenome Initiative (AG2PI) is hosting a virtual field day entitled “Stakeholder Panel on Challenges in Ag G2P” on November 16th from 11:30 - 1:00 EST. The panel will focus on listening to the perspectives of industry stakeholders on the genetics, breeding, and phenotyping concerns and needs specific to their crop or livestock.

The Sorghum & Millet Workshop will take place on Sunday, January 15, 2023 in San Diego, CA during the 2023 Plant & Animal Genome Conference (PAG 30 ( January 13-18, 2023). The workshop will highlight the growing role of genomics in sorghum and millet research and provide an opportunity for sorghum and millet researchers to share their latest research findings.

The International Sorghum Task Force (ISTF) is looking for institutions interested in hosting the 3rd Sorghum in the 21st Century Global Sorghum Conference, which is set to take place 2025-2028. The institution would need to provide host leadership.

Twenty years ago, Oryza sativa became the first rice genome to be sequenced (Goff et al, 2002; Yu et al, 2002), and like so, the foundation of the Gramene database (https://www.gramene.org), a comparative genome mapping database for grasses and a community resource for rice (Ware et al, 2002).

What’s coming in Gramene build 66?
Gramene is due to be released in December 2022. Check out what we are up to. We expect to bring seven new genomes including two new kind of grasses (rye grass and barnyard grass), rye, pea, brown mustard, white fonio, and lemon-scented gum.
