Gramene database build 36 released

The Gramene Team is happy to announce its 36th release. In collaboration with the International Barley Genome Sequencing Consortium, the Potato Genome Sequencing Consortium, the Oryza Genome Evolution (OGE) project, the Global Musa Genomics Consortium, and Ensembl Plants, we are providing in this release, the new draft reference genomes for three species, namely, Hordeum vulgare (barley), Solanum tuberosum (potato), and Musa acuminata (banana).  In addition, the assembly and annotation for Oryza barthii (progenitor of African rice) was updated from chromosome 3 short arm (chr 3S) to whole genome, and three new chr3S assemblies for wild rice relatives (O. granulata, O. longistaminata, and Leersia perrieri) have been made available.  This release also features a new capability to highlight functional annotations (GO terms; see embedded figure) in a new build of Compara phylogenetic gene trees, new DNA and protein feature annotations, new structural variation data for Sorghum bicolor, new EST alignments, and improved Triticum aestivum (wheat) homoeologous SNPs aligned to the 'gene space' of Brachypodium distachyon (purple false brome).  The MaizeCyc pathways database has been updated to version 2.0.2.  The detailed release notes are available from this webpage.
