Announcing WikiPathways for Plants: An online community portal for plant pathway curation and analysis.

Plant biologists looking for online, freely-available pathway resources that allow them to add, edit and download known and novel published pathways in plants have a new option: the WikiPathways Plants Portal (a collaboration between WikiPathways, the Jaiswal Lab at Oregon State University and the Gramene database).

This project and the work associated with it was recently published by Hanumappa et al. (2013) in the journal Rice. In this publication, authors describe the online community curation portal for plant pathways and perform a comparative analysis of the rice and Arabidopsis seed development networks for seed-specific and diurnally regulated gene expression profiles.

The authors also developed the Pathway GeneSWAPPER software application (written in Perl), which modifies reference and curated pathway networks (GPML format) using gene homology mapping data to visualize network projections for your species of interest.
