CSHL Frontiers and Techniques in Plant Science course, June 27 - July 18, 2024, Applications Due March 15

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is offering their Frontiers and Techniques in Plant Science course from June 27 to July 18, 2024. Emmanuelle Bayer from the University of Bordeaux in France, Siobhan Brady from the University of California, Davis and Niko Geldner from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland will be teaching the course. The class involves an overview of genomics, genetics, physiology, biochemistry, development and evolution and offers hands-on experiences in molecular, imaging, computational and high throughput approaches to understanding plant biology with an emphasis on recent results from model organisms, including Arabidopsis and maize, as well as a variety of other plants.

Seminar topics include:

• Plant morphology and anatomy

• Development

• Evolution

• Light and mechanical biology

• Hormones

• Small RNAs and epigenetic inheritance

• Biotic and abiotic interactions

• Plant biochemistry, crop domestication

• Applications addressing current agronomic problems

Through the lab sessions participants will gain hands-on experience in:

• Computational tools and environments for genome assembly

• Plant imaging and image analysis

• Synthetic Biology

• Transcriptomics

• Single cell sequencing

• Gene network analysis and data visualization tools

• Mathematical modeling of development and hormone action

• Purification of cell-type specific nuclei (INTACT)

• Genome editing

• Scientific Publishing
