Gramene release 69

The Gramene Plants team is thrilled to unveil its sixty-ninth data release, now hosting 233 plant reference genomes. There are 83 new genomes in this release, including 75 barley genomes. Comparative genomic analysis includes a set of 167,680 gene family trees spanning 118 genomes, and other crop-specific pan-gene trees for barley, wheat and rice.

Annotations unique to Gramene include curated gene functions for over 16,000 genes from 69 genomes with links to publications in the Papers tab. The Plant Reactome update from April 2025, which includes 10 new and 5 updated pathways involved in flowering under drought stress, root and shoot gravitropism, and salinity response, has been integrated into this release. Our integrated Expression tab in the gene search results includes a Paralogs section which displays baseline and differential expression data for the set of paralogs of the gene of interest.

Core funding for the project is provided by the Agricultural Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA ARS 8062-21000-051-00D). We are grateful for their continued support to drive advancements in rice genomics.
