Male fertility can be affected by properties of the pollen grains. The exine layer protects the pollen grain from external stressors, and is of paramount importance in the process of fertilization. If the exine is too thick, it can prevent fertilization.

Plans for the International Conference on Arabidopsis Research (ICAR) 2024 have been announced. The meeting will be held in San Diego, California from July 15-19, 2024. The organizing committe is led by Dr. Joanna Friesner, NAASC Executive Director. A preliminary agenda for the meeting includes keynote and plenary speeches, symposia, workshops, poster sessions, and networking opportunities.

The Weed Science Society of America is conducting their “2023 Survey of the Most Common and Troublesome Weeds in Grass Crops, Pasture and Turf in the U.S. and Canada.” The survey covers weeds found in corn, rice, sorghum, spring cereal grains, winter cereal grains, pastures, rangeland and other hay and turf.
